Before the road test
- A year on the permitThe learner’s permit is held at least one year before the junior licence.
- Minimum age16 years old
- Six-month clean recordA permit suspension, revocation, or recall pushes the licence to six months after it ends.
- Driver education30 classroom hours, 6 behind the wheel, and 6 observing. The instructor reports completion to DMV.
- Certified form VN-210A parent or guardian certifies it. Hand it in with the Junior Driver’s License application.
