- Six months on the permitA learner 17 or younger holds the permit six months, and a permit taken at 15 is also held until 16.

- Driver educationA Utah-approved course with 6 hours behind the wheel. Results go to the Driver License Division automatically.
- Signed hours certificationThe adult who signs the licence application certifies 40 hours, 10 after sunset.
