- YesThe restricted licence can open at 15 after 25 hours. The full 50 hours, 10 at night, are still certified before 16.
- Not yetThe restricted licence opens at 16, after 50 hours with 10 at night.
Before the road test
- Twelve months on the permitA Kansas instruction permit is held one year, or until the learner turns 17.
- Minimum age16 years old, or 15 with approved driver education
- Driver education for a licence at 158 classroom hours and 6 hours behind the wheel at a school-district or approved private school. Online courses do not count.
- 25 hours for a licence at 15With driver education, a parent certifies 25 hours to get the licence at 15. The full 50, 10 at night, are certified before 16.
- Signed form DE-98A parent or guardian signs the Driving Time Certification at the driver licensing office. No notary is needed.
