- Six months on the permitThe limited instruction permit is held six months before the provisional licence.
- Minimum age16, plus six months on the permit
- Six-month clean recordA moving violation or seat belt conviction delays the licence until six months after it.
- Driver education courseThe 33-hour course at the Community College of Rhode Island, finished before the permit.
- Signed statement of hoursA parent or guardian signs a statement of 50 hours, 10 at night. Bring it with the provisional licence application.
