- An approved online courseThe goal is 50 hours, with 10 in darkness.
- No course within 30 miles and no internetThe goal rises to 100 hours, with 10 in darkness.
Before the road test
- Six months on the permitThe instruction permit is held six months before applying for the licence.
- Minimum age16 years old
- Six-month clean recordAn at-fault crash or a moving, alcohol, or drug conviction in the six months before applying delays the licence.
- Driver education certificateBring the certificate of completion. Not needed on the 100-hour path.
- School attendance formBring form DMV 301 from the school, dated within 60 days.
- Signed form DLD 130A parent signs page 1 in front of a notary or a DMV Field Services representative. Finish it before the drive test.
