- A traditional traffic education courseThe goal is 50 hours, with 10 at night.
- A DOJ-approved alternative courseThe goal is 75 hours, with 15 at night.
Before the road test
- Six months and a day on the permitThe MVD asks for the learner permit to be held six months and one day.
- Minimum age15 years old
- Six-month clean recordNo traffic, alcohol, or drug conviction and no pending citation in the six months before applying.
- Traffic educationFinish a state-approved traffic education course. Online and third-party courses are not approved.
- Signed form 21-1600 and a logBring form 21-1600 and a driving log, on paper or a phone, to the drive test.
